MCBCSL Leadership Application Form… and how we got here to 2012.

Hello,

With much time spent in prayer in the last few months, the returning Committee (w support from MCBC) has been privileged with the opportunity to lead MCBCSL for another season. I know a lot of you have been hearing stuff about the league, and most of it was probably true at some point. But as it stands, MCBCSL 2012 is happening and we are gearing up for another fun-filled season with a two-year theme in line with MCBC: “Rooted in Christ, Sharing His Love”.

We are now looking to recruit volunteer Captains AND Mentors AND Sub-Committee support members for the 2012 season.

One of the ways to streamline the application process this year is that if you are interested to serve in any capacity this year within the leadership of the league, one form works for all. So whether you want to apply to be a Captain/ Sub-Committee/ Committee Member/ Mentor, or all of the above, the same form would be filled out and you would mark off the corresponding sections on the form. You can find the link to this form on the sidebar under ‘MCBCSL Docs’ (Save the document as a ‘Word file’ for optimal viewing).

Committee applications are officially closed at this point, but please note the application deadline for Captains, Mentors and Sub-Committee Members is APRIL 27, 2012. We will NOT be extending the deadline for Captains or Mentors Applications as we used to in previous years. The league is ON regardless of how many Captains applications we receive by April 27, 2012 (unless it’s only one, which would be quite interesting lol).

Please be patient with us in the coming weeks, since with the late start, we are still bringing in the new Committee members. Be prepared for some changes to rules/ registration processes and be ready to serve during the season (even if you’re planning to sign up as a player only).

Thanks for all the feedback, the encouraging words and your continous support of MCBCSL. Please continue to pray for the league, that God will do His amazing work through the leaders and the players and that the leadership will maintain focus on Christ throughout the busy season.

See you on the field (and at Praise Night April 27).

In His service,

colleen (on behalf of MCBCSL committee 2012)

Call for MCBCSL Committee 2012

Hey guys,

As you may be well aware, it is usually around this time that we start planning events for the upcoming softball season. Currently, we are looking for individuals who are interested to join MCBCSL’s 2012 committee.

Experience is not necessary to join committee, although it is helpful if you’ve played in the league before (so you know what’s going on) and if you possess experience/ skills in organizing events and leading/ working with people. Most importantly, you must be a Christ-follower who is passionate about serving others and ready and willing to step out of your comfort zone.

As a member of committee, your role would be to oversee and supervise one of eight possible areas to ensure that the season runs successfully. The average time commitment of a committee member is approximately 2-5 hours/ week, which varies depending on the role and responsibilities. (For a more detailed breakdown of the components of committee, please click under the ‘Committee Roles’ tab).

The reality is: Without a committee, the league cannot run.

For those who’ve played in this league for a long while, there’s a sense of community here that cannot be compared to other softball leagues. And although we have many people interested to play every year, there has been a consistent need for people to step up to lead as captains and committee members. If you talk to anyone who has served extensively in this league (whether as captain/ committee member), they will tell you that not only is it a huge challenge, but an opportunity to allow God to change and mold you through the experience.

If you wish to take on the challenge and serve on committee this year, we would love to have you as part of the team. Send us a quick email (mcbcsl@gmail.com) and we can arrange to meet up for a chat in person. The deadline is February 29.

Please continue to pray for the league.
Thanks for reading. Have a great week.

- colleen
